Emergencies come in many forms and may require anything from a brief absence from your home to a permanent evacuation. In this already busy hurricane season, the best thing you can do for yourself and your pets is to be prepared. There are many excellent resources online. Here are a few tips:

HELPING ANIMALS

The Chesapeake Humane Society, located in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake is a private, non-profit organization that works to promote the welfare of companion animals throughout Hampton Roads. CHS does not receive government funding and is not affiliated with any national humane organization or other Virginia-based animal welfare organizations. We are entirely dependent upon the generosity of individual and corporate supporters to fund our programs and services. Although we are not affiliated with, or funded by, the City of Chesapeake, we do work closely with Chesapeake Animal Services to help find homes for animals in the City shelter.

In addition to pet adoption services and events, the Chesapeake Humane Society provides low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination services through our clinic. We also provide programs and initiatives that reduce pet overpopulation, increase adoptions, and encourage responsible pet guardianship through affordable pet care.

Whether you are looking for a pet, need clinic services, want to volunteer or would like to contribute financially to support our mission, we welcome your inquiries and look forward to working with you to provide safety and security for companion animals in Chesapeake.
