Chesapeake Humane Society Community Client Appointments

The Chesapeake Humane Society offers low-cost veterinary care to income-qualifying members of our community. Our clinic is staffed with licensed and trained veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Proof of Income

All clients must present the most current 1040 tax form or form of government subsidy showing that the household makes $60,000 or less annually. Documents must be provided when the appointment is scheduled. Documents can be emailed to clinic@chesapeakehumane.org.

Scheduling an Appointment

To schedule an appointment, click on this appointment request link and enter all the pertinent information. Please allow up to five business days for our staff to call you to set up the appointment. Please note that appointments may be 10-30 days out. Be sure to email copies of your pet’s vaccines, rabies certificate, heartworm test (for dogs), and prevention history prior to your appointment.  Due to the high volume of clients, we are not able to call your veterinarian’s office for medical records.  Veterinary records and income qualification documents can be emailed to clinic@chesapeakehumane.org.

As part of our mission, we want to help our local community by helping your pets live long, happy, and healthy lives.  Core vaccines for our local pet community are Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella for canines and Rabies and FVRCP for felines.  We offer several other lifestyle vaccines that our veterinary staff would be happy to discuss with you.  Due to the high prevalence of heartworm disease in our area, we require that your pet be up-to-date on annual heartworm testing and strongly recommend heartworm prevention.  Lastly, we require your pet to be spayed or neutered at the time of your appointment or have an already scheduled appointment with our surgical team.
