WHO WE’VE HELPED

We partner with Mercy Drops Dream Center to distribute pet food and supplies in the Prentis Park area of Portsmouth. At a recent Adopt-A-Block in Dale Homes, we met a community member who was moving into a new place and was faced with having to surrender his pet because he could not afford the $400 pet deposit or the medical care required by the leasing office. We helped by paying the pet deposit thanks to a grant from the Barbara Upton Wilson Charitable Fund of the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, and a CHS volunteer transported his cat, Rolls Royce, to our veterinary clinic for neuter and vaccines. The owner is thrilled that he was able to keep his cat and we continue to support him by providing cat food and supplies.
